Former Shenley players feature in the T20 Blast

13 Aug 2018

The eagle eyed among us will have noticed Charlie Thurston has broken into the Northamptonshire Steelbacks T20 side,  and top scored with 41 v Yorkshire. That makes two former Shenley players playing in the T20 Blast, with Tom Bruce a regular with the Sussex Sharks.

Charlie's opportunity came after Northants lost their first 7 games  and turned to new players to improve their results. An early morning call asking him to get up to Headingley and the next thing he knew he was playing. With such a start he looks like being a regular for their remaining games.  Look out for his and Toms scores!!

Charlie has also been invited by another Shenley old boy Dion Ebrahim, to join the Canterbury high performance senior academy in New Zealand over the winter. He will be placed with a top club and it should be an amazing experience for him in one of New Zealand's  most picturesque cities.  Dion was recently sent by NZ cricket to work with several English county coaching teams and the MCC young Cricketers. He seems to be on a promising pathway to even greater coaching roles within the national set up, and we hope to see him at Shenley next season where he retains an affection for the club and is keen to help where he can.
