Geoff Evans - Heartbeat of the Club

08 Sep 2018

Those in the ‘know’, and Maggie Evans in particular, realise just how much time and effort Geoff Evans puts in to the Club. He is an absolute hero, so it is lovely to be able to tell you that Geoff’s work has been recognised. Geoff was nominated for the ‘Heartbeat of the Club’ award in the 2018 ECB OSCAs (Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards) and won the award for Hertfordshire. He attended the award ceremony at Chelmsford on Weds 5th Sept with his wife Maggie. In total there were 7 different categories of awards and it was hosted by Cricket East in conjunction with the ECB. About 100 people were in attendance and Graham Gooch, Peter Siddle and Anthony McGrath were among those presenting the awards.

I am sure we will all recognise how richly deserved this accolade is, and echo the sentiment expressed within the nomination which described Geoff as…. ”Always available and approachable, balanced and positive, supporting and encouraging of others, does not seek the limelight or praise. He is a true, decent man and a selfless servant to the Club.”
