Presentation Evening 2008
At the annual general meeting held last November a number of members raised the issue that they didn’t feel that the style of the presentation evening was befitting of a club of our stature and pointed to examples of other clubs where the end-of-season celebration was a more structured and memorable affair.
For that reason a number of volunteers have spent some time looking into how we can improve things and make the event more worthwhile and have come up with the following broad proposals
- The junior (up to U-13) presentations will be held early-evening
- The senior presentations (U-14 and above) will start around 7.30
- There will be a 3-course sit-down meal from a professional kitchen
- The dress code will be smart with no jeans or trainers allowed
- Entertainment will be provided in the form of a disco
- There will be a cash bar until late to enable the event to be a social occasion
For the past couple of seasons we have not made a entrance charge for the event as we have had access to the cricket centre included in the annual fee that we pay to them for use of the facility. Catering has either been done at no cost by volunteers or not at all. Clearly if we are to raise the standard we will need to charge for people to attend and in order to continue with our plan we need an indication NOW of what people are prepared to pay for a more formal event.
Could you please respond to this message with a short reply saying whether you would be likely to come to the presentation evening and what level of spend you are comfortable with (These amounts are for the senior event, assume that the colts only event would be cheaper)? Please also note that the club does not aim to make a profit from ticket sales. If you are a colt please pass this message to your parent/guardian so that they may respond on your behalf. - a maximum of £20/head
- a maximum of £30/head
- a maximum of £40/head
- More than £40/head
This is not a firm commitment on your behalf but we do need some rough ideas of numbers and budget so that we can put the work in now and throughout the season to ensure the event is a success.
Many thanks
