Match was Drawn
Shenley 2nd XI travelled to Allenburys on saturday looking to continue in a positive manner the good start to the season. They were to be frustrated by an Allenbury side in a strangely negative mood. On losing the toss and being asked to bat, Shenley tumbled to 1 for 2, bringing Laurie Willingham (84) and Steve Scot(31) together and they added 53 before Scott fell.Lloyd Willingham joined his brother in a partnership of 67 before being unluckily run out by the only thrown return from the field anywhere near the stumps, this one being a direct hit for 29 runs.Four more wickets went cheaply, leaving Shenley on 167 for 9. The two youngsters Morgan Stanley and Kieron Capaly then added 32 in the last 4 overs, scoring 22n.o. and 10 n.o. respectively to leave Shenley 199 for 9 in 53 overs.
Allenburys must have felt the total beyond them because they made little effort to chase even with generous field settings and numerous bowling changes, finishing on 168 for 4 in 47 overs.Chances were created but not taken with 7 or 8 catches being spilled, James Davenall and Lloyd Willingham suffering the most.while being a good performance, improvements must be made in catching if Shenley hope to push for promotion this year
