Shenley Village C C Third XI v Hertingfordbury II on Sat 08 Jul 2006 at 1.30pm
Shenley Village C C Won
Lost the toss, and asked to bowl. Not too hot, nice breeze.
JCN and Steve E. set about a long spell of economic bowling, with the rate raely more than 2-2.5 per over, good fielding, but not too many wickets. While Jon toiled away from one end we tried changes, first with Zak bowling even tighter, but with an injury after just 6 overs, Bob S. came on , picked up a wicket straight away, but also was injured in just his second over.
Jon finished after excellent 21 overs, and Tony M. added 4 overs (and a wicket) and Steve E. had a good second spell. A late flourish from Hertingfordbury saw them close with 172 off 53 overs. Gary B did really well behind the stumps, with just 3 byes.
Bob and Ray immediatly continued their recent good form with 6-7 per over and after 9 overs and 56 runs Ray was caught, and Bob V. Joined Bob S. for a 70 partnership in the next 9 overs, before the latter was caught on the boundary for 61. Ross Th. and Bob V then had a spell of 3 maidens while they consolidated and then pushed on with 50 runs in the next 7 overs to see us pick up the full 30 points for just 2 wickets lost and a very solid win with 20 overs to spare!
