Shenley Village C C U10 Group 3 v Kings Langley on Fri 16 May 2008 at 6.00 pm
Shenley Village C C Won by 27 runs
A rather fresh, overcast evening at Rowley Lane saw two sides battle out a well-fought match, with Shenley Village edging towards a winning position during their final batting partnership.
Kings Langley were put into bat, which all pairings managed well with good technical discipline, losing just 1 wicket throughout their innings. Joe S. top scored with an aggressive 9, and solid contributions from Sam J, Joe T. and Jacob saw their team's total rise steadily. Jordan was the pick of the Shenley bowlers with 1-7 off 3 overs, ably supported by Alex with 0-2 off 2, though Hamza and Daniel impressed with good pace. This was a well constructed innings which closed on a challenging 250.
In reply Shenley Village made a solid start with 21 from the opening partnership. The match became interesting during the 2nd and 3rd partnerships as 3 wickets fell and runs dried up thanks to some tight, accurate bowling from the Kings Langley boys. The final pairing saw Shenley home with an aggressive 17 from Ronan, who top-scored thanks to two well-struck 6's.
All in all this was a really good cricket match enjoyed by both umpires and all the (chilly) parents. Well done boys.
