Clifton II v Shenley Village C C Third XI on Sat 03 May 2008 at 1.30 pm
Shenley Village C C Lost 5 wickets
Batting in general looked rusty with a few players in need of net practice. General fielding and conduct was very good and team spirit was high despite the loss. Heads were high throughout and the result hinged on the toss as the wicket and outfield was so wet that at first it proved very difficult to get the ball off the square. A high amount of praise should go out to James Williams who batted with extreme care and skill and proved to be the backbone of the teams innings. Lee Alexander had a good game both behind the stumps and for his batting which was curtailed too early with an unfortunate run out. Chris Brown is showing a marked improvement with every game. Sadly Stevie Elliott had to leave the game early with a pulled muscle, unfortunately we did not get to see him bowling and was greatly missed, he was however able to bat (with Paul Chambers kindly running for him) and added a quick and much needed 15 runs
