Welcome to the Shenley Village Cricket Club website
Based at the prestigious Shenley Cricket Centre, we field four adult teams and junior teams from Under 9 through to Under 17. We have twice won the President's Trophy for Hertfordshire League club of the year, in 2002 and 2014. We are a progressive club and in 2023 our 1st and 2nd XI both achieved promotion. Our First XI finished top of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League ECB Championship Division last season and will be playing in the top Division of the ECB Premier League in 2024 for the first time in our history. We have a thriving junior section and in 2017 our under 13 side became National champions. In 2019 the same group of players repeated the feat by becoming under 15 National champions, only the second team in the country to achieve this repeat success in the history of the competition. We have developed a successful junior pathway and many of our young players are now playing senior cricket. Current Shenley players include Charlie Thurston, previously of Northants CC, who has been with us since the age of 8 and Patrick Dooley who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. Players to have played for the club in recent times include Nathan McSweeney who made his Test debut for Australia vs India in November 2024 and has captained Brisbane Heat and Australia A, Tom Bruce the New Zealand T20 international who played for Lancashire in 2024 and Sarfaraz Khan who is a current Indian Test player and has played in the IPL and for India A.
We have a varied social calendar, including matches against the MCC, touring sides and an annual dinner/dance. New members of all abilities are always encouraged and can contact us through the form on this site to ask about the club. Shenley Village C.C. is an ECB focus club and has Clubmark accreditation.
