Exciting News - Junior winter nets to be held at Aldenham School!!

07 Dec 2017

SVCC Members,

Exciting News

We have successfully moved the Shenley junior nets from Hatfield to Aldenham School! The move is an enormous step forward for the club and its members. We now have the means to build an EXCELLENT winter program. One that is better than any other club or rep squad in Hertfordshire.

We will have 5 individual training groups between 1.30-6.40pm on Saturday’s beginning the 13th of January and finishing the 17th March.

1.30-3.00 - U14a + Extended squad

2.20-3.50 - U14b + U13b

3.50-5.10 - U12b + U11s

4.30-5.50 - U9a + U10a

5.50-6.40 – Minis (5-8 year olds)

Will Jones (Champions league 2017 + Division 1 2016 leading wicket taker, Herts county player and ex pro) and I will coach the first 2 hours and Graham Seymour and I will take the next 3 hours. We expect to have 10-14 cricketers in each group, a superb player to coach ratio.

The facilities at Aldenham are ideal. They have installed 750 lux lights, have new mats, the nets are long (no shortened runs), there are 5 lanes (or 4 lanes + space) and the hall has a high roof allowing for realistic fielding and match scenarios. The space and low numbers will allow for high volume and high quality training.

For the new program to be successful – we will need the support of ALL members. The winter program will expand or contract based on member buy in. Here is what you can do to support your club!

  1. Commit to and prioritise the Shenley winter program – it is worth it!
  2. Make payment early, well before the strict due date (31st December)
  3. Encourage fellow members to see January as the beginning of the cricket season! Winter training is now a necessary part of making the most of membership, supporting your team and club and enjoying matches come summer.
  4. Recruit new members – in particular U10s, U9s and Minis (5-8 year olds). We would appreciate assistance from parents of ALL age groups to promote membership of the younger years – think friends, schools, sporting teams, clubs etc. Signing up new members is GREATLY appreciated and one of the best contributions members can make. December and winter is the best time to do it.

The winter program costs £95 (£55 for Minis)

Make payment by either;

  • Bank transfer to SVCC's bank account (sort code 204734, Acc no. 60390763) using your surname and first initial as reference. Then write to svcc_jnrs@fastmail.co.uk to confirm your payment. (bank transfer is the PREFERRED payment method)
  • Cheque payable to SVCC (write to svcc_jnrs@fastmail.co.uk BEFORE the due date and we will organise collection of cheque – please note that transfers are preferred)

We must be necessarily strict on payment for winter nets. The due date is the 31st December.

If you have any questions regarding the winter nets please write to svcc_jnrs@fastmail.co.uk. Your email will then be forwarded on to someone who can help you. Also use this address when referring new players.

2018 is an exciting time to be an SVCC member. I'll see you on the 13th of January!!
