Child Safeguarding Policy at Shenley Village Cricket Club

21 Dec 2016

In light of recent high profile media reports surrounding child abuse in sport, Shenley Village Cricket Club, together with the ECB and the Hertfordshire Junior League, (of which I am a committee member), is committed to safeguarding children and young adults in playing cricket.

I want to try to give all parents and young adults playing for the Club as much reassurance as to the welfare of your child whilst they are training or playing matches for Shenley Village Cricket Club, and further, am happy to answer any questions at our forthcoming winter nets, from 2pm on Saturday, January 7th at the Hatfield Sports Village.

Child Safeguarding is a primary consideration at Shenley Village Cricket Club. All senior captains, junior team managers and co-ordinators and coaches have a valid, in date, ECB Criminal Records, (now known as DBS), Checks.

Additionally, and as part of our ECB Clubmark accreditation, our coaches have attended ECB “Safe Hands”, safeguarding children workshops as part of their respective ECB Level 2 and 3 coaching accreditations. Further, we will be encouraging a number of team managers and officials to attend such workshops in early 2017.

I am away for the holiday period but will make sure an updated Child Safeguarding Policy, (we are awaiting further information/requirements from the ECB), can be found on our website upon my return.

Should you have any further questions or concerns then please contact me by email or, as said above, will be had to answer any questions at junior indoor nets in January.

Finally, wishing you all a restful, relaxing and joyous holiday season along with a happy and healthy 2017.

Best Regards,

George White
