Hello Clubmates
It is just 3 weeks to go to our Club’s most important fund-raising event of the year, let me please make a further plea for your support.
At last Friday’s AGM it was reported that the 2022 Accounts showed an operating loss of nearly £10k, confirming Shenley Village Cricket Club is on very fragile financial footing. It costs around £60k a year to rent the pitches, cover groundsmanship costs, provide coaching, buy balls, get insurance, meet League fees, and pay for all the other bits and pieces that are needed to provide you or your children with some of the best playing and practice facilities in the county.
Membership fee income covers less than half of our annual cost base. We rely on fund-raising events like the Dinner Dance to help pay for the rest, and that in turn relies on lots of people giving their support. So please do your bit to help keep SVCC running.
The best way you can do this is to come to the Dinner Dance (details below).
If you cannot make it or it is not your thing then you could help by buying some lucky numbers at £2.50 each, donating a raffle prize, or making a donation to the Club.

Date: Friday 17th March, 2023.
Time: Doors open at 7pm. Meal starts at 7.30pm. Finish at midnight
Venue: Porters Park Golf Club, Radlett.
Food: 3 course dinner served to you at the table.
You can choose from the following, please advise your choice when booking tickets;
Starter
1) Chicken liver parfait with melba toast
2) Creamed forest mushrooms with herbed croutons and smoked bacon (or you can have this without bacon)
3) Smoked mackerel & salmon fishcake with dill cream
4) Roast vegetable teriyaki with rice noodles
Main
1) Salmon en croute with watercress sauce
2) Chicken breast with cream cheese and herb stuffing wrapped with maple cured bacon
3) Vegetable & feta wellington with a port and stilton sauce
All main course are served with seasonal vegetables and potato dauphinoise
Dessert
1) Sticky toffee pudding
2) Fresh fruit salad & ice cream
3) Cheese & biscuits
Followed by coffee and chocolates

Price: £40 per person
Drink: There is a bar, where you can also buy wine for your table.
Dress code: It’s a chance for you to impress colleagues with how smart you can look. Suits and ties please but Dinner suits are very welcome, and as it is St Patrick's Day a tinge of green will be admired.
