Covid-19 Statement to all Members

20 Mar 2020

The Covid-19 crisis is affecting us all in different ways and I hope you are all bearing up as well as possible in these difficult times.

As some of you will have seen, the English Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement on Wednesday (please see link below) and this has subsequently been confirmed by both the Saracens Herts Senior League and the Herts Junior League.

It is clear that there will be no cricket activities in the short term. The junior training at Aldenham School and the senior training at Beaumont School are cancelled with immediate effect and there will be a significant delay to the start of the season. At the moment there are more questions than answers and it is our intention to issue a more detailed statement within the next 2 weeks. This will enable us to have discussions with our Landlord at the Cricket Centre and have further dialogue with the Leagues as well as awaiting any further messages that may come from Government or the ECB.

As a committee we are looking closely at the situation and one of our main priorities is to put together a plan for the club to survive 2020 in the hope that we can emerge in 2021 still solvent, with strong membership, and with playing and practice facilities still in reasonable condition. We will all need to pull together as a club to achieve this.

Stay safe and I will be back in touch again soon.
